Joyner-Johnnie Hoover of Cambria Heights, Queens on March 27, 2020, transitioned from Labor to Reward. After a short-term battle with COVID-19, our community lost a pillar and icon in his immediate sphere. His contributions, some of many, include community activist, civic duties, heading toy drives, fund raising, and voter registration reached from community to community and touched the lives of many. Devoted member of Cambria Heights Community Church. Johnnie was a 33° Mason, 50-year (1970) Lifetime Member and 38 years a Past Master (1982) of Hollywood Lodge #92. Also, he was a Honorary Past Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons in the State of NY and Jurisdictions for his service and commitment as the Chairman of the credentials Committee at the Annual Grand Session for many, many, many years. All while being the Beloved husband of Marian L., Loving father of Darrell and Lisa as well as Cherished grandfather of 3. Final arrangements will be observed later with a Memorial Service after the all clear is issued to gather again from this COVID-19 Pandemic. Johnnie’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone as being well respected and a true friend to all he interacted with and met in person or afar. His presence will be deeply missed.
