If you like things that are brand new and pristine, point your rig to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and you’ll be some of the first people to luxuriate in Outdoor Adventures’ newest resort. In fact, Mt. Pleasant Resort is not new in name only. According to Communications Director Deanna Campbell, the previous campground was razed — completely leveled — and the entire resort was built new from the ground up. Opened in July 2015, RVers can enjoy all the resort has to offer and also venture out into the welcoming city of Mt. Pleasant. Onsite, in addition to new facilities, meet old and new friends at the resort’s game room or play horseshoes and volleyball. An outdoor swimming pool is on the drawing board and will soon be built. If you forget the salt, visit the camp store for any provisions you may need. “There’s a cool play area for kids,” says Campbell. “The resort is centrally located and is just a quick hop off the highway. Mt. Pleasant has a casino, a water park, and hotel with big name concerts. It really is a destination.”

The area’s rich Native American heritage,

championship golf courses — 15 nearby — specialty shops, and scenic parks make the Central Michigan

area a great destination. For adventure on the water, take a scenic canoe trip down the winding Chippewa River, which is a pleasant scenic river that winds through the fields and forests of Michigan’s heartland. If history is your passion, visit the Ziibiwing Center, which is a museum and cultural center built to share the history of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. Ziibiwing means “by the river.” Mt. Pleasant’s Central Michigan University is also a venue for art shows, theater, musical performances, and university sporting events.
