WHAT'S IN THE CURRICULUM?

See It/Say It Stories - In a group or 1 on 1 virtually the students will be introduced and see four pictures telling a story. The student will tell their tutors and recall the pictures and the story. Visual memory builds comprehension. Alphabet Sound Bank - an alphabet sound bank houses 35 of the letter sound animation videos included in the Making Sense of Language Arts curriculum. The tutors will find the Alphabet Sound Song video and the story time letter animation video for each lesson in this video library. Making Sense of Language Arts program provides a variety of ways to support the student and the tutor through its interactive blended learning curriculum. The curriculum includes: Kaufman Assessment - We administer the Kaufman Survey of Early Academic and Language Skills to assess receptive and expressive ability. Sensory Manual – support the tutors as they engage students by using tools and tips to ensure that students progress successfully. Tutor Facilitator Guide with Lessons (ABC Letter Sounds, 5 Long Vowel Sounds and Diagraphs) Tutor Resource Kit – the tutor tool kit provides tutors with an overview of all instructional resources used in the Making Sense of Language Arts curriculum. Tutors will find information about the basic technology needed for instruction and an explanation of when and how to use each resource, complete with step-by-step images and instructions. Student Workbook - student handouts for independent work will be housed in the student workbook. Tutors will direct students to specific pages in the student workbook during instruction and will be able to use handouts to assess comprehension and progress. Student Toolkit - the student toolkit is a package that contains all of the manipulatives used in the sensory activities included in the Making Sense of Language Arts curriculum.

WHO WILL USE IT?

Self-Paced and Virtual Workshops – these workshops are for tutor onboarding and on-going support of the curriculum. Parent Virtual Training - we provide workshops for parents to learn multi-sensory techniques to teach their children language. Materials are sent home with parents who participate.

Students will be the primary user of the toolkit. It will allow the tutor to reinforce skills taught and provide students with engagement activities that focus on a variety of learning modalities online.
