Gender-Based Violence Shelters

OUR METHOD We work in conjunction with the police and state attorney's office in order to investigate, make arrests, and follow cases through the courts. We provide holistic care to victims of trafficking and violence through our shelters, our House of Joy hospital, and short- and long-term placements at our Tebow Okoa Philippi campus or Child Rescue Center. Our social workers provide ongoing support and also engage in community mediation to settle disputes and also provide education.

How do we do all of this effectively?

We use holistic and individualized care plans for every victim. We take a victim-first approach to healing. We understand that healing must occur on many levels: emotional, mental, physical and spiritual.

We encourage mediation and family reunification. We fight for justice within the courts when necessary. We don't back away from difficult cases or cower to corrupt officials. But all of this requires strong partnerships to make it happen!
