“They talk a lot about the baby—which, love our babies—but the other side is that it’s making mom a healthier person,” says Halverstadt. From the Coalition’s standpoint, they are there to support any way you feed your baby. You don’t have to only be breastfeeding to come, you just need to be informed of what you should do for yourself and your baby. Because the Coalition is a nonprofit, all the money earned from vendors, from the Breastival, as well as proceeds from their biennial Colorado Lactation Conference, gets pushed back out to the community. “Parenting sometimes feels isolating, especially during pregnancy and the early years,” emphasizes Halverstadt. “The Breastival gives families a chance to build friendships, find support, and realize they are not alone.” For more information about the Breastival, head to cobreastival.com.
