that all of this space travel is God’s will. Some have been quite dogmatic in making predictions, previous to our moon landings, that man would never be successful in his attempts. Obviously that has not proven to be true. Nothing is given in Scripture indicating whether one view or the other is right. Man’s nature has been to inquire, which is basically a quest which is never fully realized until he comes to a personal realization of Jesus Christ, and His full revelation as found in Scripture. We see noth ing wrong with scientific research which has a godly objective. There are many things God allows man to do in the case of space exploration. The Lord has given man the faculty to delve and develop. We are all rightly concerned about the high costs involved. Here is where we as Christians should let our governmen tal leaders be aware of our opinions. Over-taxation historically has been one of the prime downfalls of hu man governments. We see this in the Old Testament, as well as in more recent history. Con s ider i ng far- reaching decisions, there are some things, for security reasons, which cannot be revealed. There are mili tary as well as scientific values. God’s will is sovereign whether it’s per missive or directive. The tower of Babel was built by man, of course, so that he might in his pride seek to make himself equal with God. Archeology reveals how much idola try was involved. Since there is absolutely no evi dence that other planets are inhabits ed, this is a matter of speculation. Scientists tell us that there are mil lions of galactic systems out in space each of them with their billions of suns, and God, in His sovereign wis dom, could create whatever would please His eternal and holy purpose. So, if there is another race which has fallen in sin, most certainly our lov ing heavenly Father has made provi sion for them. As far as this world is concerned, we know that God is not willing that any should perish. Let’s dwell on the positive truths we know. Christ, God's only begotten Son, came to this planet in order that we, through faith in Him, might have eternal life. Q. Spokane, Wash. — “In the light of our nation’s extensive space program, what should the sincere Christian’s attitude be concerning these mat ters? Not only are there terrific costs involved, but also I wonder if this is God’s will. It reminds me of the tower of Babel. Doesn’t Psalm 115: 16 tell us that the heaveyis belong to the Lord, but that people belong on the earth?” A. These are vital questions about which all of us have been concerned. There have been many fine evangeli cal Bible teachers who do not believe 20
