At Advanced Practice Physical Therapy, we understand that in order to best help our patients, we need to understand what they are going through. This is especially true of our pregnant and postpartum patients, who suffer from pelvic and back pain and pregnancy-related discomfort. Studies show that an estimated 50% of pregnant women suffer from lower back pain. This kind of pain can be mitigated with the proper treatment and expert care. We are uniquely equipped to handle your care with the sensitivity and expertise required. Pregnancy and Postpartum Pain When you are pregnant or if you recently had children, it seems like you are the only one who understands what your body is going through. You may be worried that treatment could be difficult or harmful, but you can set those worries aside. Our Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA), Anna Stoick and Karly Davison, both expecting mothers, are uniquely equipped to educate and care for our pregnant and postpartum patients. They lead therapy sessions with our pregnant and postpartum patients, offering expert advice and empathetic support. Karly says she has thoroughly enjoyed working with new and expecting mothers like herself. “I feel like you get to connect
with your patient at a deeper level. We are going through it together. We have some of those aches and pains in common. We can share tips of what’s worked for us and things they can try at home, so that is helpful.” Anna explains that her treatment has been beneficial not only for her patients but for herself as well. “It has been helpful for me to have the knowledge to strengthen my core, my glutes, and my pelvic floor.” Continued Education To provide the best service possible to our patients, Anna and Karly have completed additional Women’s Health issues courses, including treatments to help strengthen the pelvic floor, the group of muscles and connective tissues that support your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. “I have learned from my experience that it’s good to stay mobile and active,” says Anna. “I try to focus on strengthening to improve stability as my body goes through changes.” The skills Anna and Karly have gained through their continued education and common experience have helped them become the ideal practitioners for pregnant and
postpartum patients. Welcome Surprise
Anna and Karly are both expecting this fall, and they have something else incredibly exciting in common! They are both keeping the gender of their babies a surprise until birth, so we will just have to wait and see whether they will welcome little boys or girls into the world! TASTY TURKEY MEATLOAF This turkey meatloaf is packed with flavor and protein, perfect for a family dinner or meal prep!
INGREDIENTS • 1 lb ground turkey • 1 onion, diced
• 2 tbsp ketchup • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce • 2 eggs • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley • Salt and pepper, to taste
• 2 cloves garlic, minced • 1/2 cup bread crumbs • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1. Preheat oven to 375 F and line a baking dish with parchment paper. 2. In a large bowl, combine turkey, onion, garlic, bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, eggs, parsley, salt, and pepper. 3. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in the baking dish. 4. Bake for 45 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F. 5. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
