Yoga in the Galleries August 20, September 17, October 15, November 19, December 17, 6 p.m. Join us for a yoga class surrounded by works of art in the galleries. Led by instructors from Five Points Yoga, this program is free and open to both beginner and experienced yogis. Sanitized mats are provided. Space is limited and spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis; tickets are available at the lobby desk starting at 5:15 p.m. Creative Aging Seated Yoga Thursday, August 6, October 8, December 10, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Join us in the galleries for gentle movement in our seated yoga sessions. This class will include restorative stretching, deep breathing and mindfulness. All levels and abilities are welcome. Creative Aging programs are geared to ages 55+. Seats are limited; email gmoa- tours@uga.edu to register. Figure Drawing Studio Saturday, August 29th, 2 – 4 p.m. Sketch from a live nude model in this free life- drawing workshop, open to all levels. Drawing supplies will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own materials too. Seats are limited and registration is required; email gmoa-tours@uga.edu to reserve your spot. Sunday Slowdown Sunday, October 25, 1 – 6 p.m. Take a pause with us at the museum during this day-long program dedicated to mindfulness, movement and making. From meditation and tai chi to mindful art-making and restorative yoga, the museum offers a chance to recharge and reconnect through art and wellness practices. Drop in for one session or stay for the full afternoon. • Mindful artmaking open studio in the Mary and Michael Erlanger Studio Classroom, 1 – 6 p.m. • Guided meditation in the galleries, 1 – 1:50 p.m. • Tai chi in the lobby, 2 – 2:50 p.m. • Sound bath meditation in the Edmonia Lewis exhibition, 3 – 3:50 p.m. • Yoga in the Galleries, 5 – 6 p.m.

STUDENT EVENTS Student Night: “Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone” Thursday, September 24, 5:30 – 7 p.m. Celebrate our special exhibition, “Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone,” with a fun-filled night at the museum. Be inspired by Edmonia’s story, legacy and sculpture to make your own stone art. Enjoy free food in the lobby, check out the galleries and try hands-on activities inspired by the exhibition. This program is presented with support from Anne & Bill Newton and Bill Parker. Student Zine-Making Night Thursday, November 12, 5 – 6:30 p.m. Join the Georgia Museum of Art Student Association and the Art Library (Lamar Dodd School of Art) at the museum to make your own zine. Don’t know where to start? Not sure what a zine is? Looking for a creative outlet? We have you covered. We will introduce how to make a zine and provide a range of materials plus snacks and drinks. Study Break at the Museum Wednesday, December 2, noon – 4:30 p.m. Need a break from studying for final exams? Students are invited to stop by the museum on Reading Day to participate in one of our art and wellness programs or take a pause and enjoy some art in the galleries at their own pace. Snacks, coffee and refreshments provided. This program is presented with support from Anne & Bill Newton and Bill Parker. WORKSHOPS + CLASSES Creative Aging Art Workshop Tuesday, September 22, November 17, 10 a.m. – noon Lifelong learning through the arts offers opportunities to practice creativity and create community. Join teaching artist Toni Carlucci in the galleries to look at and talk about art in the permanent collection, then come to the studio classroom to make art and new friends. All levels are welcome.
