Thompson Curator of African American and African Diasporic Art, for a tour of the exhibition. The tour is capped at 30 participants; please plan to arrive early to guarantee your spot. Faculty Perspectives Wednesday, September 16, 2 p.m. Mario Erasmo, professor and head of the University of Georgia’s department of classics, will give a gallery talk on “Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone.” He will examine Lewis’ art through his expertise on the reception of classical antiquity and explore the influence of the Greek War of Independence on the U.S. abolitionist movement. The tour is capped at 30 participants; please plan to arrive early to guarantee your spot. Enjoy a glass of wine with a catered dinner while networking with other PK – 12 educators in the Athens area. Participate in an art-making workshop inspired by the exhibition “Edmonia Lewis: Said in Stone” led by artist and educator Kristen Bach, learn more about the museum’s teacher resources and enter to win prizes.
