Hidden here is a part within a park which park goers cannot access called Hallett’s Sanctuary. It’s a protective haven for plants and animals and off limits to humans leaving an area of the park in the wild. HIDDEN CENTRAL PARK EATING HEALTHY FOR YOUR HEALTH AND SMILE

Now traveling to the Northern edge of the park there is a structure which is the oldest structure in the park. It’s Blockhouse #1 the only remaining fortification built to repel the British during the War of 1812. New Yorker’s feared the British would attack Manhattan by boats on the East River. Several of these blockhouses were built for cannon placement to defend the island. Alas the British never attacked but one remains today to confirm their existence. Water in streams, lakes and waterfalls are in Central Park but are they really mirages. You see them; you can get wet in them and even row a boat in them. However, they are not really there. They have all been designed and are man-made structures which are supplied with water some through your typical garden hose. Makes the park seem a whole lot better but the whole park is manmade. It’s a needed oasis in our hectic city.

A dry mouth is conducive to dental decay so if your mouth is continually dry, chewing gum helps to produce saliva thereby keeping your mouth wet. Be careful in consuming sticky foods like caramel and taffy. These substances have a tendency to stick to your teeth and generally contain large amounts of sugar. Even dried fruit which seems to be healthy can be loaded with sugar and readily stick to your teeth. You want to consume nutritious foods such as raw fruits and vegetables which help to support your immune system. Do you like cheese – good for you! Cheese contains calcium that breaks down acids in your mouth which can attack your teeth. Cheese is tasty and enlivens your meals, but don’t go overboard since cheese is high in fat. Moderate your intake of acidic foods. No sucking on lemons here when having an ice tea or too many carbonated drinks. Direct and constant exposure to these substances will wear down the enamel or outer protective coating of your teeth. If you are routinely coming in for your exam and cleaning appointments I always check the condition of your teeth, gums and mouth and will inform you of any situations you should be concerned about.
