Maximum Diesel: Honouring their Trade by Peri Hayes
Sarah and Justin Smout celebrate their evolving business, Maximum Diesel. With Justin operating the shop, Sarah is their Office Manager -- for which she facilitates an array of behind- the-scenes administrative work in regard to accounting, billing, parts and pick up. This team of two explores their first time in business together, having recently hired a third team member as part of their exciting expansion. Maximum Diesel began as a mobile repair service unit, repurposed from a firetruck which the pair purchased from the Malahide Township Auction. During this time, the pair were dedicated to working beyond their 9:00 to 5:00 careers. Sarah exclaims, “Our shop on wheels in our driveway started this business!” Justin has been a licensed 310T Diesel Technician for over 15 years, accumulating in-shop, administrator, foreman and service manager experience. Ultimately, Justin recognized his desire for further agency regarding his output of work and for nourishing his attention to detail. Moreover, Justin is passionate about offering customers reasonable prices for repair. In 2022, Sarah and Justin launched their mobile repair operation full-time, servicing Elgin County and surrounding area -- north to the 401, east to Tillsonburg, south to Lake Erie and west to Shedden. Maximum Diesel specializes in on-site repairs and maintenance of truck and coach, agricultural and construction equipment.
