Horton Christmas Market Brings Holiday Cheer to St. Thomas The holiday season will be in full swing at the Horton Christmas Market (10 Manitoba Street, St. Thomas) on Saturday, November 15th, from 10 am to 4 pm. The annual event has become a local tradition, offering festive fun, unique shopping, and a true community spirit. Market Coordinator, Monique Clark, says this year’s market will be bigger and better than ever. “It is about twice the size of our normal Saturday market,” she explains. “We’re going to have over 110 vendors this year, which is an increase over last year by about 10.” The Christmas Market brings together many of the regular Horton vendors alongside new faces offering creative gift ideas. “Everybody is really thoughtful,” Monique says. “Our farmers and makers come with things that are ready-made for the season, whether that’s gift baskets, holiday arrangements, or easy options for family gatherings.” Visitors can even pre- order Christmas trees from Quaker Farms or pick up festive wreaths and arrangements from Harris Flowers. Food and drink will be a highlight, with Railway City Brewing and Caps Off joining the lineup, plus the return this year of mulled wine from a new winery. Visitors can also look forward to roasted chestnuts, German sausage, courtesy of PowerCo. “It’s always about creating that festive feeling,” Monique says. “It feels like a Hallmark Christmas movie, with toques, light jackets, and people strolling with bags of treasures.” Live music will fill the air all day, with six local performers scheduled for 45-minute sets. “It’s the same great talent that serenaded our regular season market,” Monique says. Santa Protect your vehicle from RUST!
and Mrs. Claus are also expected to drop by around noon, adding to the festive spirit. Parking can be a challenge, as the market lot is partially used for vendor tents. Monique encourages visitors to use side streets. “Do not park in Food Basics or Bulk Barn,” she stresses, “But parking along Talbot Street is a great option, because then you can also check out some of the downtown businesses while you’re here.” For Monique, the magic of the Horton Christmas Market comes down to the people. “Everything here is handmade, homegrown, or hand-assembled,” she says. “It’s an amazing thing to see all of these artisan creations in one place. St. Thomas loves to support local, and people even travel from London and beyond just for this event.” Her best advice? “Come early,” she says with a laugh. “Things sell out quickly, and once they’re gone, they’re gone!” THE TURKEY SHOPPE
