Coastal This week Coastal and Marine staff did a dive at Trembley Reef barge to check on reef health. Staff was very pleased with the amount of biodiversity seen during their survey. Coastal staff also announced the winners for the 2025 pilot program for Charlotte County’s Sea Turtle Lighting Recognition Program- The Waverly Restaurant & Bar, and Pelican Landing. Staff was happy with how this program was received by the coastal community here in Charlotte County and is excited to extend the program to our other islands in the Sea Turtle Lighting Zone starting in the 2026 nesting season. Coastal staff also continues to finalize end of shorebird/seabird and sea turtle nesting season reports, and monitoring Bald Eagles for nesting status for Audubon. So far, no Bald Eagles have laid eggs but with the rigorous nest building and clean up staff has observed, we are expecting some nests to start incubating any day.
