SPENDING TO EARN A few times each year, Foodtown and Freshtown dedicate an entire month to helping you save money. We call it our 10% Off Program, and, each time it launches, you’ll have four weeks to shop and rack up discounts. When you reach $300 in spending, your cashier will reward you with a 10% off coupon, and you can earn as many as three coupons each shopping period! Then, you can use them to save 10% on three separate grocery runs or stack them to save up to 30% on a single Foodtown trip. That customer was a smart shopper who knew how to work the system, and we were happy to help him take advantage of a great deal. In fact, our goal is to get as many customers as possible to utilize the 10% Off Program and save money on their orders. In so many ways, what’s good for you is good for us, too. We usually run the discount program three or four times each year, so make sure to keep an eye out for announcements that the shopping period has started. Stacking your discounts is usually the way to go. Once, I saw this work for a customer firsthand when I was helping bag groceries in one of our stores. The customer had three 10% off coupons, and he figured out a savvy way to use them: He and his family combined their shopping with some close relatives, and they spent $1,200. Using his coupons, they were able to save $360 — that’s over a free cartload!
