franklinbuildingsupply.com | 208-514-2200 | 9222 W. Barnes Dr., Boise, ID 83709 Thankful for My ESOP
Coming off the heels of ESOP month, employee ownership has been heavy on my mind lately.
my business partners, and for me, personally, this dynamic creates a much more motivating work environment. We all have different parts to play, but our goals are aligned, and we all want to find the best solutions for our customers, coworkers, and company. Maybe you are like I was in the beginning, not quite sure what it all means to work for an employee-owned company. If so, we have some great tools to help navigate this. Each location has an ESOP Guide that can answer questions and point you
I just celebrated my five-year anniversary at Franklin, which means I am almost 80% vested in the plan. To be honest, being part of an employee ownership plan hasn’t always carried the same weight as it does today. During my onboarding at Franklin, my supervisor explained how exciting it was to be part of an employee-owned company. While I appreciated her enthusiasm, I didn’t really get
what all the fuss was about. I was bogged down trying to learn all the new names, passwords, and industry-specific jargon, and at the time, “ESOP” was just one more abbreviation I had to try and remember. But as I settled in, I quickly realized that being employee-owned is actually a really big deal, and something I am now so thankful I stumbled into. Our ESOP is such a unique opportunity, and it doesn’t cost us anything. We don’t have to pay for our shares like a traditional investment; we simply earn them each year we continue to work at Franklin. As employee- owners, we can directly impact the value of those shares. If we develop a better or more
toward helpful resources. There is also a calculator on Paylocity that can help you understand your vesting schedule, and a second calculator to help project the financial impact of your shares over time.
Nowadays, I take the ESOP personally. This is not just a company that I work for, it is MY company. I am proud when it is successful and motivated when there is room for improvement. So, during this month of gratitude and thankfulness, I am certainly thankful to be part of an organization that rewards its employees with ownership opportunities. And I hope you are, too!
efficient way of doing business, it affects the company’s bottom line. That, in turn, influences our stock price, which directly impacts our ESOP account balance.

There are also culture advantages to working for an ESOP. My coworkers are not just people with whom I work. They are

High-five to our fellow owners creating SOP and Gemba LEAN improvements in abundance. All of these are helping us to focus on a safer work environment. Easy From: Mike Miller, Boise Finish To: Davin Polk, Boise Finish We had a builder call in at 2:45 in the afternoon, desperate for a few pieces of trim so they could finish installation tonight. All of our drivers had left for the day, and Davin was getting ready to leave. He volunteered to take this express delivery to Star. Big thanks to Davin for making FBS look like a superstar! Strive From: Chad Beebe, Twin Falls To: Chris Hunt, Twin Falls Chris is always looking ahead for the betterment of the company. He recently noticed that I doubled up on a special-order item and we needed to send the extra back before it was too late for vendor return. Thanks, Chris, for always looking out for us!
Had a delivery scheduled for walls on a new build. We just dropped the floor pack, and they had very little room on the jobsite. He asked if we were sure they were ready. I called the customer, and he was very happy that we did. He pushed it to next week. We were able to give ourselves more time to build the load and have a better idea of when the customer is ready. Thank you for looking out! Guide From: Alex Tarasenko, Jaguar To: Ritchie Rodriguez, TVID Interiors Just wanted to give a shoutout to Ritchie. He’s super dedicated to his job and an incredibly reliable coworker. I was working late and sent him an email around 9 p.m. on Tuesday night. Not only did he respond right away during his free time, but he also jumped in to help me figure out what I needed. Ritchie ended up spending about an hour of his own time making sure my department had everything we needed to finish the project before the release date. On top of that, he

Patty Mcdonel Embodies the FBS Difference
At Franklin Building Supply, every delivery, happy customer, and beautiful finished home starts with the dedication, knowledge, and teamwork of our people. We value our team because they don’t just show up to do a job; they show up to make a difference. They bring passion, creativity, and care to every customer interaction to make sure our reputation for quality and service continues to grow stronger every day. This month, we’re highlighting Patty Mcdonel, one of our incredible Window Showroom Sales Representatives from the Caldwell location! Patty has been with Franklin Building Supply for nearly three years, and in that time, she’s made an incredible impact on both her team members and our customers. Patty’s role is all about helping customers find the right window and door solutions for their projects, whether that means assisting a walk-in client choosing the perfect style or coordinating
large commercial window orders from start to finish. Patty says no two days are the same, and that’s what keeps things exciting. She
thrives in our supportive culture where “everyone’s got each other’s back.” Outside of
work, Patty channels her creative energy into her side business, “No Crumbs Left,” where she bakes and sells delicious cookies! She also loves spending time with her toddler, exploring the outdoors, and is a recent fan of shooting sports. Patty’s positivity, teamwork, and dedication truly reflect what makes Franklin Building Supply so special.
