APPRENTICESHIPS

If you have an employer or the promise of an employer to begin your apprenticeship, please contact the Apprenticeship Team on 01772 225768 or email appsinfo@preston.ac.uk

Apprenticeships are a brilliant way to gain an industry recognised qualification which is taught in the workplace through on-the-job and off-the-job training, and accompanying study. An apprenticeship programme is as challenging, if not more so, than any other level of study within a college or university setting. As an apprentice you will be expected to work a minimum of 30 hours per week, in addition to your studies.

As long as you are at least 15 years of age and have officially left school and not in full-time education, you can become an apprentice. As an apprentice, you must have an employer or a promise of employment, as it will be your employer who will support you through your apprenticeship and training. Many apprenticeships, just like other courses will have entry requirements, so please do check this with a member of our team or visit our website. Assessment for your apprenticeship is continuous throughout your programme and will be a mixture of on-the-job training, portfolio building and industry demonstrations. At the end of the apprenticeship programme you will be required to complete an End Point Assessment. This will assess you on everything you have learnt on your apprenticeship. Training towards this will be throughout your apprenticeship, giving you plenty of time to prepare.
