Thesetupwasextremelystraightforward.As besttoreplicatethecustomer’ssetup,we used a Naim UnitiStar as our main amplifier/streamercombo to powerthe speakers. Iwelcomedthecustomerintotheshopand usheredhim totheal-importantlistening seat so that we could start our demonstration.BeforeIcouldtalkthrough the selection ofproductson ofer,the customer,withadisgruntledlookonhisface, pointedtotheJernModel12WSandasked, ‘’Whatarethose?’. Iexplained thatthese unusualyshaped oferingswerearelativelynewarivalfrom Denmark, and unlike the majority of speakersavailableintheHi-Fiindustry,were madefromcastiron.Iwasveryforthcoming andclarifiedIhadn’tlistenedthemtomyself andwascurioustohavealistenandseewhat theycoulddoandhowtheywouldperform.
Thefirsttrackheplayedwas Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb”.Aratherfitingsong titleasthat’sexactlyhow I feltwhile listening to the opening vocal lines from Roger Waters. But the momentIheard ‘’Helo,is thereanybodyinthere’,Ifelt
asifIwaslisteningtothissongfortheveryfirsttime. PartsofinstrumentationthatI’dneverheardbefore becameapparent.Thedetailwasshocking..theclarity andthesoundstagewassoimmersivethatIhadto doublecheckifIconnectedtherightspeakersorifa subwooferwasacidentalyconnectedtooursystem.
