Future-proofing is becoming a very widespread concept in the industry, and Aico’s HomeLINK Connected Home Solution is the perfect tool for being proactive towards environmental risks. The platform uses unobtrusive and secure environmental sensors to monitor temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide and air quality. These main factors that could threaten the property’s longevity and accelerate the need for renovation in the not-so-distant future. The pre- and post-retrofit monitoring performed by HomeLINK enables users to evaluate energy efficiency and ensure their investments provide more comfortable and efficient homes. Our panel was impressed by the powerful insights provided by HomeLINK and its ability to promote a safer, healthier and more sustainable home. The judges classified it as a must-have, not only for private customers but also for social housing projects, as the data generated by the platform could potentially make on-site inspections redundant and save the government thousands of pounds. For residents, the monitor is controlled via the HomeLINK App, which offers complete transparency into the status of connected fire and carbon monoxide alarms and important health and well-being information. They are provided not only with information such as home rating, temperature, humidity and carbon dioxide data, but also with useful advice on how to improve the quality of their home’s environment.

This little but mighty retail luminaire from ZUMTOBEL proves that great performance can also be presented in the smallest packages. Introduced as “the future of store lighting”, SCENO uses miniature lighting chambers to provide superior light quality and effective glare control with a high level of visual comfort. SCENO’s individually swivelling wings and 355° rotation allow retailers to direct and customise the lighting to keep it consistent with the brand’s style during customers’ shopping experience. The luminaire’s flair for customisation was one of the winning points for the judges. The panel complimented the great focus of SCENO’s LEDs and its versatility for lighting designs in retail in general, as it is not necessary to change the whole installation to get a totally different feel in the shop. They classified it as a real future-proof product. The luminaire’s powerful LEDs reduce the number of lights required, helping retailers save on their energy bills and freeing up space for additional elements on the tracks, such as motion sensors or beacon technology. The luminaire also comes in a pretty, yet discreet package, with four designs, three housing colours and four different temperatures to let the products shine. SCENO is easy to install and can be mounted on three-phase trunking or Zumtobel’s TECTON trunking system. Thanks to their efficiency, the luminaires may also be placed further apart, reducing installation time and cost.
