The LED Group (ROBUS) is proud to feature the title of the largest lighting Irish company in the world. Established in 1984, the family business has had a long and proud tradition of commercial success, and the judges were extremely impressed by how this company competes with foreign giants. The globally successful ROBUS brand of products is sold through the electrical wholesale market. The company has a reputation for energy-efficient commercial and residential solutions, supported by world-class customer service in more than 40 countries around the world. ROBUS also relies on distribution and offices in the UK, Australia, China, France, Benelux, South Africa, New Zealand and the Middle East, servicing over 3,000 stockists and tens of thousands of installers. This panel highlighted how ROBUS’ supply chain operates seamlessly in this hard market. Another major factor in the judges’ decision was how the company promotes the development of their staff a very commendable trend in today’s marketplace. The LED Group employs more than 250 talented people around the world, with a strong learning and development culture in which all employees are encouraged to reach their limitless potential, independently of their position in the company. They firmly believe they are the lifeblood of their business.

Dowds Building Services successfully completed the full £24M electrical package for the new Ulster University in Belfast. The prestigious new educational facility comprises circa 75,000m 2 spread over 15 levels, two of them below ground, housing the plant rooms. This has been Dowd’s largest electrical contract to date, and the panel was impressed not only by the scale of the project but especially by the innovation and quality of the company’s work. The panel highlighted Dowd’s impressive engagement with clients, consultants, supply chain, end-users and the public to bring to life a building that has transformed Belfast City Centre for generations to come.
