WHOLESALE OF THE YEAR BM Electrical Wholesale Ltd.
The Unsung Hero Award rewards a person who has gone the extra mile for their community, company, or charity cause, and this year’s winner is a gentleman who has gone above and beyond his role many times. Philip Irvine always has a story to tell of some adventure with a life lesson tied into the end, and his colleagues felt it was time to tell his own story. As a member of CEF Craigavon’s staff for almost 28 years and presently responsible for internal sales, Philip has always been hard-working, keen to learn and helpful to all customers coming to the store. For the past two decades, Philip has brought his enthusiasm from work to the great outdoors. He has been teaching map reading and mountaineering skills to young, underprivileged people and Duke of Edinburgh Awards groups. His colleagues are not immune to his passion either: in 2022, Philip led a seven-hour team-building trek up into the Mourne Mountains. He also promotes treks and hikes to raise money for local charities. Philip has provided navigation, safety briefs, first aid and an always welcome word of encouragement for hiking challenges to raise money for various causes. In 2015, he raised over £5,000 for Action Cancer by tracking all seven mountains of the Mourne Mountain range in one day!
