NUGENT POWERS HISTORIC TEMPLEMORE BATHS PROJECT WITH EXPERT ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION… ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR
N UGENT provided the complete electrical installation for the redevelopment of Templemore Baths, the last working Victorian public baths on the island. The £17 million project included the refurbishment of the original building to include a visitor and learning centre, the restoration of one of the original pools and the building of an extension to house a brand-new leisure centre, complete with a 25m pool and gym. Built between 1889 and 1892, the Baths opened in 1893. Unfortunately, time hadn’t been kind to the landmark building. Some sections had been closed for 50 years. The electrical systems – installed
in tandem with the full mechanical services by NUGENT – comprised coordinated containment systems, switchgear including mains and sub- mains infrastructure, all lighting (general, emergency and external), bespoke lighting and controls, fire detection system, public address voice alarm system, pool distress alarm, disabled refuge system and a disabled toilet alarm system. NUGENT also provided CCTV installation, structured cabling, including fibre and copper site network, access and security systems, lightning protection systems and AV systems, including induction loops. “The passionate people in our Digital
Construction Team coordinated all the MEP services to ensure that the services could be integrated into the building with minimum impact on the wonderful heritage features,” explained Contracts Director Martin Keenan. The team used BIM Level 2 with the model completed to LOD 5 to identify and provide solutions for potential clashes between MEP, architectural and structural elements of the project. Martin added, “Templemore Baths was a fascinating heritage project to be part of. We worked closely with the main contractor, Heron Bros, to ensure the successful delivery of our electrical services to the leisure facilities.”
