ALLOYED LEAD CORE optimized for maximum energy transfer and impact power

TAPERED JACKET engineered for lethal penetration on deer

BIGGER TIP. BIGGER IMPACT.® The key to Deer Season XP’s effectiveness lies in the larger diameter tip. The larger tip expands more rapidly, transferring more energy into the deer and leaving a larger wound channel.

POLYMER TIP for flat trajectory and more energy retention

I PURSUED THIS OZARK MOUNTAIN MONARCH WE CALLED “HANDY” FOR 2 YEARS. I FINALLY GOT MY CHANCE, AND DEER SEASON XP WORKED PERFECTLY. THE BUCK MADE IT 10 YARDS. HE’S THE DEER OF MY LIFETIME.” – Dr. Grant Woods Whitetail Biologist, Host of GrowingDeerTV

is important for creating as wide a projectile as possible. This maximizes tissue destruction and hemorrhaging. Most deer hunters strive to take broadside lung shots, so a soft bullet that rapidly expands is ideal. For hunting in situations where longer shots might be common, say farther out than 200 yards, a bullet that flies with a higher B.C. (ballistic coefficient) such as one with a polymer tip and sleek nose profile becomes critical. On the flip side, back in great grandpa’s day, flat-nosed slugs were famous for smacking deer with a wide, flat tip. Veterans felt such bullets hit harder and dropped deer quicker than any sharply tipped bullet. They could afford to ignore those ballistically efficient, pointier bullets, because they were mostly shooting deer inside 150 yards. For many hunters today, that is still the case. At that range

you gain little advantage from a high B.C. bullet. That said, if you have to reach out farther, you want to have confidence your bullet will deliver. Winchester recently took a huge step forward in helping deer hunters choose the perfect whitetail load with the introduction of Deer Season XP. I’ve loved Deer Season XP since I first saw the name. What a perfect title for deer hunting ammunition!
