How is this possible? Varmint X features a lead-core bullet with an alloy jacket and polymer tip to create a sleek, wind- stabilizing profile for long-range accuracy, yet upon impact, rapidly expands for violent internal fragmentation that limits pass-through shots, while rapidly anchoring predators. New for 2017, Varmint X will now be available in a lead-free option in the most popular predator hunting calibers.
Varmint X ® Shot-Lok ® Shotgun Shells Not all predator hunting situations demand long-range accuracy. For those sportsmen who hunt thick terrain, where predators are coming in quick and close, Varmint X shotshells bring the tight-patterning and proven Shot-Lok technology to a load that means serious business for predators. The 3-inch shells are packed with 1½ ounces of copper-plated lead BBs. With approximately 75 pellets launching from the muzzle at 1,300 fps, they are capable of delivering 12-plus inches of penetration beyond 50 yards with pellet counts exceeding 35-40 pellets inside a 10-inch circle.
Varmint HE ® (High Energy) Headlined with Winchester’s ground-breaking 17 Win Super Mag (WSM), the fastest rimfire round ever developed, Varmint HE is designed to deliver maximum shock and deep penetration for an instant terminal upset upon impact. In addition to the 25-grain polymer-tipped 17 WSM, traveling at 2,600 fps at the muzzle, the line also offers a .22 LR copper-plated hollow-point and a .22 Win. Mag. with a jacketed hollow-point. Varmint HV ® (High Velocity) In the Varmint HV line is where the 17 WSM truly achieves its ground-breaking swagger as the lighter 20-grain polymer- tipped round exits the muzzle at a stunning 3,000 fps.
