JERRY ANN TAYLOR BEST DRESSED AWARD Winn Captures Third Overall Best Dressed Award, First at the NFR By Ann Bleiker, Photos by Kenneth Springer S issy Winn has always had a flair for fashion and learned how to sew from her mother,

clawed her way to the Top 12 once again in Ft. Worth and captured the Best Dressed title for the second consecutive time. She would also qualify for her second consecutive NFR appearance with the goal of not only winning some rounds while in Las Vegas but to go home with the prestigious Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award. Both goals accomplished. Winn, who announced on October 27 that she would be sponsored by Fallon Taylor’s Ranch Dress’n brand for the NFR, came out swinging taking the first-round victory lap decked out in a Vegas themed shirt, blue pants and blue hat. “There are some girls dressing great this year,” stated Winn when talking about the Jerry Ann Taylor award after her first-round win at the NFR. “Summer Kosel has some really cool outfits. “I won the award in Fort Worth this year and if I can win it here at the NFR that would be pretty special to me.” The Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award is given in honor of 1986 National Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee Jerry Ann Taylor, a daring trick rider with an incredible sense of style. At the NFR, the award is determined by fan and committee votes. After a record number of votes submitted in 2023, Winn was named the 2023 Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award winner following in one of her mentor’s footsteps – Fallon Taylor. Taylor won the Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award in 2013, 2014 and 2015. Prior to the award changing names in 2012, Taylor also won the title in continued on page 37

Over the years they have collaborated on various outfits from Sissy’s days as a Miss Rodeo Texas Princess in 2011 and Miss Rodeo Texas in 2015 to rodeo outfits she has sported during her professional career. In 2017, Sissy joined the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association to pursue her love of barrel racing at a professional level and she has carried her sense of fashion to the competition arena as she races around the cloverleaf pattern. A program unique to the WPRA in conjunction with the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame known as the Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award is awarded only twice a year – during the final round at the Ft. Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and over the course of 9 out of 10 rounds at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. To be eligible for each a WPRA member must first qualify for the respective event. In 2022, Winn qualified for the final round in Ft. Worth and she and her mom worked overnight to come up with a flashy outfit as she wanted to compete not only for the rodeo title but also the Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award. Winn was successful in winning the best dressed title. Later that year, Winn qualified for her first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo but would be edged out for the Best Dressed title by Margo Crowther of Florida. In February of 2023, Winn
