ALL AROUND -TEAM ROPING HEADER -TIE DOWN ROPING
“I think one day we will get to look back and see all those pictures from every year with the kids on different things. Like the last time I won three I didn’t have them. Then I won the all- around in 2018 and had a picture of Creed on the saddle. Winning my 20th world title in 2020 in the breakaway roping when I was pregnant with Journey and now to have them here with me this weekend picking up these three titles. The progression of the pictures through the years is cool and the memories are pretty special too.” So how many more does Crawford have in her before she hangs up her rope? “I hate to say,” chuckled Crawford. “I never thought I would have 23 so who knows. I would like to add a few more but we will see.”
Jackie Crawford entered the tie-down roping at the WPRA World Finals as a way to garner some extra all-around points as her goal was to add one more all-around title to her resume. As a result, she actually won the average in the tie-down roping moving her to the top of the leaderboard to win the world title in the tie-down roping as well as the all-around. She finished the weekend off winning the team roping as well. After adding three titles in 2023 her overall total of WPRA titles now stands at 23. outdistance Bailey Gubert who finished as the reserve world champion with $13,874. Stahl also picked up her fourth world title on the heeling side. She finished the year with $14,425 while reigning world champion Lorraine Moreno was second with $14,223. Crawford and Stahl finished second in the average in a time of 20.8 seconds. Stahl won the average as a header roping for Kennlee Tate. They finished in a total of 20.7 seconds. Crawford finished the trifecta winning the tie-down roping world title with $2,388 surpassing Audrey Cunningham with $2,102. Crawford also won the average title in the tie-down roping in Waco with a total time of 44.0 seconds on three head. She now has six world titles in tie-down roping alone. “I always wanted to add one more or a couple more to the world title total, but I had no idea I would be able to add three in one year,” stated Crawford, who is married to 10-time PRCA NFR Team Roping qualifier Charly Crawford. The last time Jackie won three titles in one year was back in 2016 when she tied JJ Hampton’s total of 17 WPRA World Titles. That year, Crawford finished atop the list in the all-around, breakaway roping and team roping (heading). It was also before she added two kids – son, Creed, and daughter, Journey – to the family. “Having the two kids now is so fun,” reflected Crawford of how much has changed since her last trifecta of world titles. “They have no idea what is going on. They are just having fun right now.
The last time Jackie Crawford won three world titles in a year was in 2016 before becoming a mom. Now she gets to celebrate this one with son, Creed, and daughter, Journey. This will be an image that they will look back on fondly for years to come. WPRA photo by Rodeobum.com (James Phifer)
