Covering an area of 32 hectares, Ke- ukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower gardens and probably Europe’s best-known destination for fans of all things floral. Located in the small South Holland town of Lisse, just to the south- west of Amsterdam, some seven mil- lion bulbs are planted here each year and bloom just in time to create a spectac- ular, multicoloured carpet for the two- month flower festival that’s held here each spring. As this is the Netherlands, it comes as no surprise that most of the flowers are tulips. However, there are also plenty of crocuses, daffodils and hyacinths. The 2026 Spring Flower Festival takes place from 19 th March to 10 th May. This flower park is dedicated to a specific theme each year, with the inspiring gardens, events and artworks adjusted accordingly. This year’s theme is “The Field of Gold”, in- spired by Sting’s famous song and the works of Vincent van Gogh, and with a focus on a warm, shimmering and shift- ing palette of gold, apricot and dark blue throughout the entire season. Spectacular views of these flower gardens are provided along Keukenhof’s 15 km of walking trails. During your walk, you will see unique flower shows that change weekly, beautiful ponds and numerous pavilions featuring vari- ous restaurants and terraces. This is your chance to shoot the most beautiful self- ies and floral photos. In addition to the huge flower garden, this park is also the country’s largest garden of statues, so you can admire many statues of national and international artists. Keukenhof and field of gold Keukenhof is an easy day trip from Amsterdam and is convenient thanks to the Keukenhof Express bus service that departs from Schiphol Airport
