Gde je vaša Amelija na pragu nove sezone? – Moj lik je preživeo mnogo gubitaka, lomova i ponov- nih početaka, i sada jasno zna ko je. U ovoj sezoni vidimo ženu koja prihvata sopstvene granice, ali i dalje ne odusta- je od borbe. Njena snaga je tiša, ali dublja nego ikad. Ne pokušava više da se uklopi u tuđa očekivanja. Umesto to- ga, gradi sopstveni prostor istine. Vaš lik je godinama bio simbol kompleksne ženske snage. Kako ste vi lično rasli uz njega? – Rasli smo zajedno, bez sumnje. Dok sam ja sazreva- la kao žena, majka i umetnica, i ona je prolazila kroz slične faze preispitivanja. Naučila me je da ne potcenjujem tiši- nu i da emocije nisu prepreka profesionalizmu. Naprotiv – one su često njegov temelj. Serija se često bavi temama mentalnog zdravlja. Zašto je to važno? – Zato što živimo u svetu koji predugo ignoriše razli- čitosti. Kroz svoj lik sam imala priliku da pokažem koli- ko su empatija i razumevanje ključni, ne samo u medici- ni već i u svakodnevnom životu. Te priče su važne jer daju glas ljudima koji su često nevidljivi. Ako se makar jedna osoba prepozna i oseti manje usamljeno – uradili smo ne- što važno. Kako balansirate emotivno zahtevne scene sa privatnim životom? – Učila sam to godinama. U početku sam sve nosila sa sobom kući. Danas znam kada da se zaustavim. Naučila sam da poštujem sopstvene granice. Gluma traži ranjivost, ali život traži ravnotežu. Najvažnije mi je da ostanem pri- sutna kao majka i kao osoba, a ne samo kao lik na ekranu. Zašto mislite da „Uvod u anatomiju“ i dalje ima toliku emocionalnu snagu? – Serija govori o ljudima koji greše, pate, vole i nastav- ljaju dalje. U suštini, nema cinizma – već saosećanja. U svetu koji postaje sve brži i grublji, to je retkost. Publika to prepoznaje. I vraća se toj emociji.
Where is your character as the new season launches? - My character has survived many losses, fractures and fresh starts, and is now clear about who she is. In this season we see a woman who accepts her own limitations, but still doesn’t give up the fight. Her power is quieter, but deeper than ever before. She no longer tries to meet the expectations of others. Instead, she builds her own space of truth. Your character has symbolised complex female strength for many years. How have you personally grown with her? - We’ve undoubtedly grown together. While I’ve matured as a woman, a mother and an artist, she has gone through similar stag- es of introspection. She taught me not to underestimate silence and that emotions aren’t an obstacle to professionalism. On the contrary – they often represent its foundations. The show often deals with mental health issues. Why is that important? - Because we live in a world that’s ignored the different for too long. Through my character, I’ve had the opportunity to show how much empathy and understanding are crucial – not only in medi- cine, but in daily life. Those stories are important because they give voice to people who are often invisible. If just one person recognises themselves and feels less alone — we’ve done something important. How do you balance emotionally demanding scenes with your private life? - I learned to do that over many years. I initially took everything home with me. Today I know when to stop myself. I’ve learned to re- spect my own boundaries. Acting requires vulnerability, but life re- quires balance. The most important thing for me is to remain pres- ent as a mother and a person, and not just as a character on screen. Why do you think Grey’s Anatomy continues to have such emotional power? - The show deals with people who make mistakes, suffer, love and soldier on. It has no cynicism at its core — it has compassion. And that’s a rarity in a world that’s becoming ever faster and harsh- er. The audience recognises that. And reciprocates that emotion.
