Since debuting in 2021, HBO’s The White Lotus has grown in popularity to become one of the most significant phe- nomena on TV — as a show that com- bines top comedy, sharp social satire and dark drama, and its success has also been confirmed by Emmy Awards (15) and nominations (more than 40). The first season was set in a Hawaiin luxury ho- tel and won over viewers and critics with its sharp analysis of inequality, wealthy tourists and their weaknesses. Season two shifted to Sicily but continued the same pattern, conquering audiences with unexpected plot twists and complex characters, while season three was set in the exotic Thailand and raised the bar even higher — and accordingly received record ratings and nominations. Season four of The White Lotus has been confirmed officially. Production is gearing up and will shoot in France, marking the first time the action has fo- cused on the heart of Europe. The lat- est reports suggest that filming is set to begin in 2026, with locations to include prestigious hotels on the French Riviera like Saint-Tropez’s Château de La Mes- sardière, which promises to provide the perfect visual and thematic setting for a new season filled with luxurious intrigue and dark tales. The signature of Mike White, who returns as writer and director, guaran- tees continuation when it comes to the tone of the series — which blends com- edy, social critiques and twisted drama. Although plot details have yet to be re- vealed, White has suggested in inter- views that he wants the new season to return to the thematic roots of season one: “With season four, I want to go back to basics in a way— satire, social roles and a world where art, fame and power intertwine. These are areas that I know well and that excite me the most as an author,” said White. Some new roles have been con- firmed so far, including acting names like AJ Michalko and Alexander Ludwig, while there’s also been media speculation about the inclusion of Helena Bonham

This show has become a cultur- al phenomenon precisely because of its ability to cross genres — it is simultane- ously fun, grotesque, witty and deeply critical regarding contemporary social is- sues. The White Lotus approach to view- ing privilege, guilt, morality and the in- ner worlds of elite characters has made it one of the most strongly discussed se- ries of its generation — and season four promises to elevate that experience to the next level. While no exact date of a premiere has been announced, produc- tion frameworks and past patterns sug- gest the season could arrive in late 2026 or during 2027. DETECTIVE HOLE — ADAPTATION AWAITED EAGERLY WORLDWIDE While The White Lotus gradually constructs its latest chapter, Netflix is of- fering something completely different as early as March — the serious, dark and highly anticipated crime series: Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole. Netflix has officially announced that its latest series based on Jo Nesbø’s cult crime franchise will arrive on its plat- form on 26 th March, bringing a screen adaptation of one of the novels about Harry Hole, one of the most famous characters of contemporary crime liter- ature. The plot focuses on this brilliant but dark Oslo-born detective, who bal- ances his personal demons with the bru- tal cases he must solve. The first season sees Hole take on a serial killer, but al- so the threat of an internal enemy in the
form of corrupt colleague Tom Waller, giving the series added complexity in terms of ethics, justice and the moral boundaries of the police system. Tobias Santelmann (known for the series Exit and The Last Kingdom) stars as Hole, while author Nesbø is also in- volved directly as creator, writer and ex- ecutive producer, ensuring that the ad- aptation will be true to the spirit of the original novels. Writers and directors al- so approached this project with serious- ness and ambition, creating authenticity with the Nordic atmosphere of Oslo and scenes of dark crime. The adaptation of Nesbø’s most pop- ular books, millions of copies of which have sold worldwide, represents a unique opportunity to include Nordic noir in the broader global pop culture. With a strong story, a complex protagonist and the complex working of the crime genre, De- tective Hole could become a serious can- didate for the top crime show. “Watching Tobias encapsulate Harry was really exciting and marks a new era for this character. I’m delighted that we will bring his interpretation of Harry to audiences and take them on a dark and twisted journey” said Nesbø, though he didn’t reveal more than is included in the official synopsis. The story focuses on anti-hero Har- ry Hole, a brilliant but deeply wound- ed homicide detective who simultane- ously fights criminals and his own inner demons. Lurking under the surface of the investigation is a complex charac- ter drama that explores the fine line be- tween justice and revenge. Harry must do everything he can to catch the seri- al killer before it’s too late... Binge-watch- ing isn’t lethal!
