ConstructionManager of theYear Award It was great to see so many Northern Ireland-based contractors represented at the recent CIOB Construction Manager of the Year awards in London. Congratulations must go to Fergus Brown MCIOB from Heron Bros for winning the ‘Schools Above £20m’ category for his management of the construction of five 120-place nursery schools, completed in just 76 weeks. This is a very commendable achievement in a nation-wide event.

Recent changes

Two recent changes, which members may have noticed are: 1. The Novus sub-group, which was set up as a community for members in the early stages of their construction careers, has been renamed ‘Tomorrow’s Leaders’. I would like to encourage any young construction professionals to get involved. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and network among industry leaders. 2. The CIOB Benevolent Fund has been renamed ‘CIOB Assist’. It continues to support members and their families on everything from financial concerns to mental health issues.
