N orthern Ireland-based offsite construction specialist, McAvoy, has been chosen to deliver a ground- breaking low carbon school for the Department for Education in England. The new £23.7m, two-to-three storey Merstham Park secondary school will provide 900 pupils with high quality classrooms plus play space, a dance studio and an all-weather sports pitch. The £23.7m Merstham Park secondary school will comprise 178 individual modules built offsite by the McAvoy Group.

The school is being built in McAvoy’s Lisburn factory, limiting on site noise and disruption, with 178 individual modules due to be craned into place over a six-week period. It will boast impressive sustainability credentials, run predominantly on electricity and incorporating efficient heating and cooling systems and roof- mounted solar panels.
