You go to school. It’s still pretty early in the morning. You check to see where the sun is now. You don’t look right at the sun because it can hurt your eyes. Is the sun shining in the sky now?

4

Yes, it is! It is fun to see the sun!

5

Then, at noon, it’s time for recess. Where is the sun in the sky at noon?

6

It is up in the sky.

7

Now it is evening. The sun is close to the horizon. That’s where the sky meets the land. The sun looks like it is sinking down below the horizon. What happens?

8

The sun sets. The sky gets red!

9

The sun does not set at the same time each day. In the summer, you may eat dinner at 7 o’clock. On a summer evening, is the sky usually light or dark at 7?

10

In summer, the sun is up at 7. It has not yet set.

11

In the winter, you may eat dinner at 7 o’clock. But outside, it is dark. On a winter evening, is the sun usually in the sky at 7?

12

In winter, the sun is not up at 7. It has set.

13

In summer, the sun rises early and sets late. That means the sun shines down on us for a long time in summer. Does that change the temperature?

14

Yes! It gets hot in summer. I like summer!

15

I can see the sun go up. I can see the sun set. I see it in summer. I see it in winter!
