T H E K I N . G ’S B U S I N E S S (Roman .Catholic seminary enrollment has, however, increased very rapidly).” No Pussyfooter Wanted. When the Baptist Church at San Ber nardino, Calif., recently sought a new pastor, the following resolutions were passed: “ Inasmuch as'the First Baptist Church of San Bernardino is seeking a pastor who is a man after God’s own heart, we take this opportunity of stat ing clearly the convictions and fulness of gospel loyalty for which we will look in one who comes to this pulpit and pastorate. We are the more careful to set forth our confession of faith, in that some preachers use the terms of ortho doxy with unscriptural meanings. “We deplore the fact that because some deem themselves competent to de cide that a part of the Bible is not God’s inerrant Word, they set forth another gospel, denying the sufficiency of Christ’s blood shed for sinners, pro claiming a righteousness earned by self- culture, teaching that human nature can ever be made fit for heaven, ques tioning the virgin birth of Jesus Christ, toning down His claims to be God, doubting the personality of Satan, not fully believing that ‘the wrath to come’ is conscious eternal suffering in hell, considering the Holy Spirit an imper sonal divine influence, and ignoring the personal premillennial coming of our Lord. “We herewith declare the following statement as an unequivocal and timely expression of what we steadfastly be lieve:— ” (Then followed a doctrinal statement.) Lust Among School Children. Vice conditions among the young peo ple of the public schools in our large cities are known to be appalling. At the recent, convention of national edu cators in Chicago, Prof. M. V. O’Shea spoke of the emotional and blase atti tude of the present-day student, placing the blame largely on the motion picture. He declared that vice and lust are more in evidence than ever before. Prof. George F. Balgetty spoke of the grow ing tendency on the part of the child to disrespect of all authority. Of course the remedies suggested were not those prescribed by the Bible. “ Teaching children to apply their information” has its place, but teaching them the source of power to make them victorious over sin, is the essential thing.
