NDER camouflage of that won derful word, “ Educate,” many souls are being deceived and are going down to death through the evil influence of the mov ing picture. The two most commonly heard claims made against this form of amusement are that it is a waste of time and money and these points are well taken, but they are not, by any manner of means, the worst evils which movies inculcate. Some months ago, there appeared in the Dearborn Independent, a statement which indicated that the Jew was back of the movie, and that he had made the boast that he would ruin the Gentile through the pictures which he would have thrown upon' the screens of the country. Whether the charge against the Jew id true or not, the'fact remains, that the pictures which have been shown from month to month and from year to year, have gradually become more and more salacious, in spite of the fact that the public is constantly told that they are censored. The censors appear to have had their souls seared with a red- hot iron. Gradually; insidiously, the pictures have become worse and worse and ha bitues of the showhouses are becoming so much accustomed to suggestive films that they deny the truth regarding them. One particular evil inculcated in the minds of married people is dissatisfac tion with their life-partners. It fosters self-pity, and the third party in any domestic difficulty, who always appears at the proper (? ) time, comes in and helps to widen the breach, which may be purely imaginary until fed by movie suggestions; and these are the basis of the growing divorce evil.
