friend, the good news reached us that he had just yielded and received the Lord Jesus as his Messiah. J k J k SPANISH WORK Robert H. Bender, Superintendent. This Includes Gospel meetings, Sunday School classes and house-to-house visita tion among the fifty thousand Spanish speaking people in Los Angeles and vicin ity. “ And the common people heard him gladly.” ' H E find this experience true even in this day and gener ation. There is scarcely a home that we visit where we do not have good attention, and we are glad to say that there are those who gladly open their hearts to receive the Saviour. In one home vis ited recently we handed a young man a tract, saying, “ Read this and you may know how to become a Christian.” His mother, hearing my remark, said, “ My son is a Christian and has been since he was born. We are both Roman Cath olics.” “ Well.” we said, “ are you saved? Do you know if your sins are pardoned?” In reply she said, “ Only God can tell that. I believe in God and if he wants to save me He will, and if not, He only knows.” We then tried to show her through the Scriptures how God has revealed His will to us and wants all men to he saved. She be came interested, reached over for a box, asked us to come and sit down, and then becoming quiet, listened as we ex plained the way of salvation. While we were talking to her, two daughters and two sons also heard the message. We can only pray the Holy Spirit to do the enlightening, for it is written, “ The en trance of thy word giveth light.” Far Reaching Results Our visits to the different groups oi believers from week to week are a source of joy for they are glad to have us come and instruct them in the Word of God. There‘seems to he a real hun ger among these people for the Bread of Life. Recently when visiting one of

W e have a Jewish home where Bible classes are held fo r adults and ch il dren and interviews are had with Jewish inquirers. Street meetings are also con ducted, and a public m eeting is held tw ice each month in the Institute auditorium. OME months ago two young Jewish brothers arrived in Los Angeles, having crossed the continent on foot. God surrounded the first young man with Christian friends and Chris tian influences, and it was not long be fore he accepted Jesus Christ as his Messiah. His .conversion, together with the fact that he informed their aged father of his decision, incurred the dis pleasure of the other brother. On the occasion of an annual ban quet of Hebrew Christians, both brothers were present at the Gospel service whiah followed the dinner. When opportun ity was given for the Hebrew Chris tians to testify, the converted brother arose and made a very dramatic appeal to his brother to accept Jesus Christ as his Saviour then and. there. In the tense pause that followed this appeal, the unconverted brother jumped to his feet like a flash, and a thunder of ap plause burst from the audience, who supposed he was rising to signify his in tention of becoming a Christian. Rais5 ing his hand to stop the applause, he proceeded in a very spirited manner to respond to his brother’s appeal, and to enumerate his reasons for NOT accept ing Christ. The dramatic appeal and its correspondingly dramatic response made a profound impression on the audi ence and as a result, a great volume of prayer has since been going up to God on behalf of this young Jewish man. From time to time, different workers, feeling led of the Spirit of God, have spoken to him and reasoned with him from the Scriptures concerning Christ the Messiah of Israel, and concerning his own individual responsibility. Sev eral' of the workers felt fully assured that God was going to answer prayer for him, and a few days ago, as he was spending the day in the house of a
