(d) Then there is no atonement made for our sins. We are yet in our sins. Our preaching and our faith are vain. (e) Then God did not so love the world as to give His only begotten Son that we might not perish. (f) Then prophecy is a lie and we have no “ blissful hope” nor any sure hope of the future. It is a mocking falsehood to say in connection with the Olivet prophecy, “ Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words shall not pass away.” (Matt. 24: 35 and Matt. 25: 31-33.) (g) Then no man knows God. “ For who among men knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of the man which is in him? even so the things of God none knoweth save the Spirit of God.” (1 Cor. 2: i l , R. V.) No one knoweth “ who the Father is save the Son and he to whomsover the Son will- eth to reveal Him.” (Luke 10: 22 R. V.) (h) It is a denial of the Father. “ Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father.” (1 John 2: 22, 23, R. V.) Truly this doctrine of the Godhead of Jesus Christ is the article of a stand ing or a falling church. To one it is “ the savor of life unto life” and to the other it is “ the savor of death unto death.” “ He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. -If there come anyone (whether a minister or a professor in theology or anyone) unto you, and bring not this doctrine,“receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed.” (2 John 9: 10.)
