an existence in the future which shall be as long as the expression “ forever and ever” means when applied to God. Matt. 13:13, 39. These verses constitute the explana­ tion of the two parables, and in this explanation we find all of the symbols given their literal meaning. Therefore it is noteworthy that Satan here retains his personality and his existence is not explained away as a figure. Heb. 7:25, Christ ever liveth to make' intercession for us...................... ....Rev. 12:9, 10, Satan accuses day and night The solemn thought, that comes to one in comparing these last two refer­ ences is that we need to be represented by counsel, for Satan it is who continu­ ally accuses us and Christ is the One Who would be our advocate or lawyer. (1 John 2 :1). It may be a new conception to some to consider Satan as a being of great dignity, but such the scriptures instruct us to do. The modern conception of Satan being a bad little boy that can be made fun of, called by familiar nick­ names and ordered away at our pleas­ ure, is responsible for the growing dis­ regard for the greatness of this evil being whom we must continually resist. Jude 9. Yet, Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he dis­ puted about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusa­ tion, but said, “ The Lord rebuke thee.” Satan is likewise the “ Prince of the Power of the Air,” for such Paul calls him in plain words in Eph. 2:2. Like­ wise, Satan is the prince of this world. For Jesus says, (John 14:30) “ For the prince of this world cometh and hath nothing in me.” The Apostles speak of him as the god of this age. (2 Cor. 4:4.) It is a striking fact that in the ac­ count of Satan’s offer to' Jesus of the kingdom of the world (Matt. 4:8) the Greek word for world is one which need not necessarily be translated in the
