T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S Heb. 9:22, “ Without shedding of blood there is no remission.” The whole significance of the Passover (Exod. 12:3, 7, 12, 13, 22, and 23) is that only those within the blood-sprin kled house were safe from the destroy ing angel. The slain lamb furnished the atoning blood; the act of sprinkling signified their faith and acceptance of the Divine provision made; their re maining within the house tested its efficacy to save and keep; the provision was enough for all; but only those who availed themselves of it derived the benefit. That is The Gospel in a nut shell. (7) The Result of Atonement— Sal vation. Immediate Healing of sin’s disease. Isa. 53:5, “ He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” Immediate Deliverance from sin’s power o f attraction. Gal. 1:4, “ Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world.” Immediate Life for holiness and serv ice. 1 Peter 2:24, “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness.” Future Gain of eternal inheritance. Heb. 9:15, “ He is the Mediator that they which are called might re ceive the promise of Eternal Inheri tance.” Future Glory of the Divine presence. Jude 24: “Unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His Glory with exceeding joy.” The Atonement— so far from being (as some critics assert) “ an immoral doctrine”— is not only the most moral, but (as it would appear) the only moral means by which God can pardon trans gressors of the Divine Law.

sorrows; yet we did estee'm Him strick en, smitten of God and afflicted.” “ All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord (Jehovah) hath laid on Him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all,” “ Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him: He hath put Him to grief.” Acts 2:23, “Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowl edge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain.” 2 Cor. 5:19, “ God was in Christ rec onciling the world unto Himself.” Thus the very God Whose Law man has broken, and against Whom he has sinned, Himself provides the Atone ment. (5) The Foundation of Atonement— Divine Love. John 3:16, “ For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.” Eph. 5:2 and 25, “ Christ also hath loved us, and hath given Himself for us." “ Christ also loved the Church, and gave Himself for it.” 1 John 4:10, “ Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His, Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” Rom. 5:8, “ God eommendeth His Love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” Man will love his friends, but God’s love extends to His enemies. The in fidel-says: “ There is no God” (Psa. 14:1). False religions say in effect: “ He is a hard God”— only to be pro pitiated by human sacrifice (heathen), b/self-mutilation (Hindus), by acts of penance (Roman Catholics), etc. The Gospel message is that “ God is Love” (1 John 4 :8). (6) The Method of Atonement—By Blood. Lev. 17 :11, “ It is The Blood that mak- eth an atonement for the soul.”
