T H E K I N G ' S B U S I N E S S meaning of the dream? (Review last week’s story by having children tell it to you, emphasizing the power of prayer.) A number of years have pass ed and a new king is now ruling over Babylon. A great feast was being held in the king’s palace, and thousands of his lords were there with their wives and friends. Of course the king had beautiful gold and silver dishes upon his table, and at this feast, when the king and his friends had eaten and drank much wine, they called for more of these beautiful dishes. There were no more in the palace, and then the king did a dreadful thing. He had the ' gold and silver cups and bowls that were used on the altar brought to him, and then this wicked king filled them with wine and passed them around the table. As they continued to drink they became noisy and boastful, and praised the gods made of gold and silver, and brass and wood. In the midst of the feasting and making merry, the king turned very pale; his knees shook, and his eyes opened wide with terror. At first the guests thought he was sick, but he pointed a shaking finger at the whit wall behind him. There on the bright wall were the fingers of a man’s hand, and as they all gazed in terror the hand began to write, but no one could under stand the words of the writing. How could they find out? The king was growing ill with fear, and the people did not know what to do. At this time the king’s mother came in and told him about Daniel, and immediately Daniel was brought in before the frightened

Approach.— Boys and girls, before we have our lesson story this morning I am going to tell you about a young man who came up to see me one Sunday morning in the Sun- BEGINNERS day School. He AND PRIMARY came up and called Mabel L. Merrill me by name, and asked if I knew him. For just a moment I waited and then I remembered him as a boy who was in the Junior Christian Endgavor when he was twelve years old. After a while he began to stay away from Junior because he could earn some money at the golf links. Here he met some boys who smoked cigarettes and pretty soon he too began to smoke and the habit grew stronger and stronger, and then he began to feel the effects of the poison In his body and mind. Now listen, boys and girls, what he told me that morning, and he is just seventeen years old. He said he had to’ give up high school because he could not get his lessons, and the principal of the school said he was smoking too much. He said he had tried and tried to stop smokjing and could not. Boys and girls, what do you think I told this boy to do? Yes, I told him Jesus could help him to stop smoking, and would help him if he would let Jesus come into his life and be his Saviour. If he had never Smoked that first cigarette he would not be in the sad condition he is in today, and in a short time the poison will kill him.
