Five students from the Embrun Family Karate club travelled to Dublin, Ireland where they competed for Team Canada in theWorld Karate and Kickboxing Championships between October 4 and 9. Sidney MacNeill (8) brought home a silver medal in Light Contact fighting (under 25kg) and a silver medal in girls 12 and under Chinese Forms. Megan Bowman (15) brought home a bronze medal in girls 13 – 15 Chinese forms. Caylie Castonguay (12), finished strong with a fourth place in girls 12 and under Chinese forms. Kaleb Desrochers (13) took a bronze medal in Light Contact and a fourth place in point fighting (under 45kg) while Kaleb Hihnala(9) won a bronze in point fighting (under 25kg). Their coach and head instructor from the Embrun Family Karate Club, Sigung John Lianos, attended the Championships with the team and is very proud of their accomplishments. These students have been committed to training for many months; they won at the provincial and national levels and they brought their dedication and hard work to the world stage. The students are already focused on the next WKCWorld Championship which will be held in Orlando, Florida in November 2015. Training has started. L’École élémentaire catholique Embrun présente les six élèves qui forment le gouvernement des élèves pour l’année scolaire 2014-2015. Il s’agit de Marcus Piché, Abigail Lefebvre, Alexis Gaudreau, Thomas Larrivée, Camille Alary et Gabrielle Lamadeleine qui travailleront ensemble et avec les autres élèves de la 6 e année. Ils organiseront des journées thématiques pour agrémenter les journées des élèves.
