Saint-Jacques Church in Embrun was packed last Saturday October 25 at the funeral Russell Township Mayor Jean-Paul St. Pierre, who passed away suddenly on October 1 Hundreds of people, including dignitaries such as MP Pierre Lemieux, MPP Grant Crac mayors, township councillors and employees, friends and ordinary citizens attende the service. A ceremonial guard comprised of Embrun and Russell firefighters as well a RCMP officers saluted the family as they left the church with the mayor’s remains. Eul gies were delivered by his two sons and two daughters, township CAO Jean-Leduc, M Pierre Lemieux, MPP Grant Crack and several friends.
