CHAN BLUFFS COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE

Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center Plans Taking Shape The Chanhassen Bluffs Community Center project continues to move forward, with major milestones reached this summer and fall. On September 4, the city finalized the purchase of 13.1 acres for the new facility. That same day, the design team—BKV Group and RJM Construction—presented updated design options, cost estimates and new renderings at a special City Council work session. Councilmembers reviewed three options, with strong support voiced for a two-level design concept that balances cost, efficiency and amenities while preserving the programming

elements promised to voters in 2024. Highlights include two full hockey rinks, a welcoming lobby, right-sized community rooms, dance studios, fitness space, an indoor playground, walking track and flexible areas for weddings, events and community gatherings. This design concept lowered costs from earlier proposals by reducing overall square footage, simplifying the roof design and streamlining mechanical systems. These changes trimmed millions

while keeping the community’s core priorities intact. The project remains on track for design work to continue through 2025, with construction targeted to begin in May 2026 and completion expected in 2028. "What does Phase II of the Civic Campus Project entail?" With our new City Hall now open, residents are understandably curious about what comes next. The answer? A transformative second phase that turns the former City Hall site into something entirely new: a destination park in the heart of downtown. Phase II is all about recreation, connection and community. Once the old City Hall is fully demolished this fall, the site will be redeveloped into a vibrant, multi-use park designed to serve all ages. Planned amenities include a playground, splash fountain, event plaza, skate park, pickleball courts and a park building with restrooms and concessions. This phase brings more than just physical upgrades; it brings a renewed sense of civic life to downtown. The design emphasizes accessibility, family-friendly features and flexible space for gatherings, performances and year-round enjoyment. Construction is already under way and will wrap up by summer 2026. When finished, the new park will be a major step toward creating a more connected, inclusive and energized downtown—something we know our residents value deeply.
