SUPPORTING OUR LOCAL HEROES 3 Ways to Thank First Responders When danger arises and we need help, we call 911 and alert first responders. Every day, thousands of first responders put themselves in harm's way to protect the lives of civilians in their community. At Tittle & Perlmuter, we want to thank our first responders for always going above and beyond to keep us safe. That's why we're celebrating EMS Week (May 21–27) and International Firefighters’ Day (5/4) this month by sending food to our local stations to give our first responders a warm meal for the night.

Since this realization, I have spent the last two years as the chair of that Women's Caucus, and I am so proud of the support our members lend each other, both personally and professionally. I'm so excited to see how many more women in the legal industry this group can impact. More than anything, I’d like people to encourage girls and young women to go for the positions they want instead of feeling forced to stay behind the scenes. Certainly, things are better now than they were 25 years ago when I got those President and First Lady books in D.C., but encouraging girls to be true to themselves, to shine as brightly as they can, and giving them a nudge to help their confidence when they need it will continue building a world where all kinds of jobs, including law , are filled with bright, talented women who bring with them a whole set of unique life experiences and perspectives that can make every profession stronger.
But you may wonder how you can thank first responders and show them you care in your own way. And you don't need to wait for a holiday to do it, either. Showing first responders

they're in your thoughts will go a long way, no matter what time of year it is. So, if you're looking for ways to thank first responders in your town or community, here are three easy ways to show your gratitude. NO. 1: COOK A MEAL. You can take a recipe from the Tittle & Perlmuter playbook and cook a homemade meal for your local station too! Day-to-day life as a first responder can be stressful, along with irregular schedules and long hours, so finding time to enjoy a home-cooked meal can be few and far between. Plus, if you drop the meal off yourself, you can also include a note of thanks and a personal message! NO. 2: SEND A GIFT BASKET. Suppose you don't have time to cook a meal or are unsure how to satisfy everyone's meal preferences. In that case, a gift basket can be a great alternative. You can customize the basket yourself by adding gift cards to local restaurants or grab-and-go snacks that first responders can bring along in their vehicles with them. NO. 3: SEND A "THANK YOU" LETTER. It's true what they say that it's the thought that counts. Sometimes, all it takes is letting someone know you appreciate them with a message from the heart. You can even gather letters from friends, family, and neighbors and send them together for an even bigger impact. Whatever method you choose, your kind words, supplies, gifts, or food will make a big difference. For some first responders, your kind gesture may turn a bad night into something more positive!
