Healthy: Winter/Spring 2025

FUN TIPS TO BOOST YOUR MOOD THIS WINTER

When the days get shorter and the weather turns chilly, it’s easy to feel the “winter blues” creeping in. At Syntero, we understand that the winter blues and Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) are real. We also believe winter can be a time of joy and renewal. Here are some tips to help you brighten your mood and embrace the season. Soak in the Sun or Create Your Own Sunshine Bundle up and take a walk or sip your coffee or tea on the porch. Just 15 minutes of sunlight can lift your spirits and provide a vitamin D boost. Fill your home with light and color. Open curtains during the day, light candles in the evening, and surround yourself with colors that make you feel cozy and happy. Embrace the Magic of Winter In Northern Norway, people experience long, dark winters, yet their mindsets help them focus on the joys of winter — like cozying up with a warm drink, enjoying outdoor activities like skiing or skating, building a snowman or gathering with friends. Think like a Norwegian — find the magic in the season. Move to the Beat of a Brighter Day Exercise doesn’t have to be a chore! Dance around your living room to your favorite playlist, try a fun online workout, or engage in a snowball fight. Moving your body releases endorphins, helping you feel energized, even on the coldest days. Stay Social Don’t let winter turn you into a hermit! Plan a movie night, meet a friend for coffee, or host a cozy get-together. Staying connected is essential for maintaining a positive mood during the winter months. Eat Happy Foods Nourishing your body with mood-boosting foods can make a big difference. Add colorful fruits, veggies, and omega-3-rich foods like salmon or walnuts to your diet. Get Creative Winter is a great time to start a new hobby. Whether it’s painting, knitting or baking, creative activities can lift your mood and help you pass the time. Ask for Help If the winter blues start feeling more serious, ask for help. Syntero offers support for all ages and backgrounds.
