The Impact of Technology in Contemporary Society Technology appears in various forms today and has a significant impact on many fields. There are positive and negative aspects. The positive aspects vary from increased access to communication, efficiency and access to diverse data. However, individuals experience low activity levels, mental health is affected and social isolation becomes a recurring feature. These elements demonstrate that there are diverse circumstances. Thus, technology is not fundamentally good or bad and everything is based on how it is used. The term technology comes from the combination of the term “techne” which means art, craft and “logos” which means word, speech. By the early 20th century, the term had encompassed more means, processes and ideas. We can turn our attention to the process of development of technology. The Industrial Revolution began in the 18th century when factories began to replace certain manual labor to increase efficiency and technological objects. The 20th century marked by the digital era saw the invention of the transistor (1947), an essential aspect for today’s computers, followed in 1989 by the World Wide Web, which provided a platform for easy development of all domains. Although there are significant risks regarding certain technological components, in terms of the labor market it has been a real help. The demand for college graduates between 1940 and 1996 increased by improving certain industries. Digitalization in EU countries has had a positive impact by improving the labor force.
