Thus, habits are repetitions of factors that are activated by certain external stimuli, independent functions that are not necessarily influenced by extrinsic motivation or the need for rewards. Classical behaviorism is at odds with some of the implications of current theories regarding habits, which would be derived from internal movements. John B. Watson, who explored the vast features of conditioning and managed to show a possibility of explaining irrational fears and patterns through the harmful conditions of the Little Albert Experiment. As for B.F. Skinner, he believed that behavior is controlled by determinants found in the environment, achieved by successive factors. The transmission of dopamine helps learning through certain synaptic connections. This is an error of prediction. Thus, aversive and alarming factors can be “motivators” with different sensory effects. Social media through likes, posts, messages and others give us a boost for a limited period of time that we internalize as a reward, making us much more exposed to accumulate information unconsciously. In conclusion, because we need this constant exposure to stimuli and information, we transform ourselves unconsciously and continuously, learning through repeated actions, habits, certain elements that fundamentally change the way we relate to society, both culturally and personally, on a social scale.
