CalFresh Healthy Living Parent and Family Nutrition Education Workshops CalFresh Healthy Living supports healthy, active and nourished lifestyles by providing nutrition education sessions and resources for parents and families, while building community partnerships to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. Nutrition education topics include MyPlate, how to stretch your food dollars, Rethink Your Drink, physical activity promotion and more. Presentations are available in English and Spanish. Trainings cover a range of curricula including Color Me Healthy, Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH), Growing Healthy Habits, Jr. Master Gardeners, and more. Training, technical assistance, on-going support and resources are available for educators to implement lessons during school or in extended learning settings. Audience: Educators, school site staff, afterschool staff. Date: Sessions available upon request. Time: 60 minutes to 6 hours depending on curriculum, customizable. Location: In-person and virtual. California Health Education Framework Professional Learning for Educators The California Health Education Curriculum Framework Rollout was created to support educators in increasing their health education content knowledge and pedagogical skill development. The four professional learning sections will give administrators and leadership the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to implement and support effective health education in their schools and districts. The professional learning includes an overview of the California Health Education Content Standards and Framework; safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments; standards/skill- based instructional design process; as well as a closer look at the six health education content areas. Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE) Not on OUR Watch! Preventing & Addressing Student Substance Use Join us to “get schooled” on the research- based risks of current substance use trends, and proven systemic approaches for preventing and intervening in use. The drugs our students are exposed to are becoming increasingly stronger, more appealing, available, easier to conceal, and laced with unexpected substances. We are seeing an epic rise in adolescent substance- related mental health concerns, cognitive damages, medical emergencies, and overdose deaths, often playing out on our campuses. We will also outline the components of effective comprehensive drug education programs, proven prevention, early intervention and discipline approaches, and the role we can play in helping our students stay informed and safe in today’s drug landscape.
