Work-Based Learning Student Events Students showcase their skills and competencies in an Industry-based competition, demonstrating their mastery of various technical and professional abilities. The events highlight their practical knowledge and dedication, as they tackle real-world challenges with expertise and innovation. Participants: K12 students Empowering the Future Workforce: Active Learning with Physical Computing (Elementary) Elementary School Training: Focuses on introducing basic coding concepts and integrating computer science within STEM subjects. Teachers will learn how to use Micro:bits. to create simple sensors and in- teractive displays. The training will feature hands-on activities using the Forward Education Climate Ac-tion Kit, allowing educators to teach climate solutions through physical computing. Dates: October 11, 2024 February 12, 2025 Location: West End Educational Service Center 8265 Aspen Avenue Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 Empowering the Future Workforce: Active Learning with Physical Computing (Middle School) Middle School Training: Emphasizes building critical thinking and creativity through intermediate coding concepts. Educators will explore integrating coding into core subjects by creating animatronics and ro-botics projects with Micro:bit controllers and Hummingbird Kits. Empowering the Future Workforce: Active Learning with Physical Computing (High School) High School Training: Focuses on advanced coding concepts and data science. Educators will learn how to use Micro:bits. and Smart Science Kits to create projects using sensors for data collection, fostering creativity, innovation, and career preparation in STEM fields. Date: October 18, 2024 February 26, 2025 Location: West End Educational Service Center 8265 Aspen Avenue Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730 Welding Competition Welding programs will compete in the inaugural SBCSS Welding Competition. Welders will be assessed on technical and safety criteria for a variety of industry-standard welds, judged by local industry experts.
