Sweet Genius Culinary Competition

Rube-a-thon Competition A STEAM competition for the 21st century that pits student teams against other teams to create a fantastic Rube Goldberg machine along with an even more fantastic story. Date: February 1, 2025 Location: Rialto High School 595 South Eucalyptus Avenue Rialto, CA 92376 Contact: Kim Terry, Coordinator kim.terry@sbcss.net 909.252.4557 Sustainable League of Combat Robots - Plastic Pandemonium The Sustainable League of Combat Robotics (SLCR) is a hands-on robotics competition league that em-phasizes the use of sustainable, affordable materials, with the majority of the combat robots built from 3D-printed parts. SLCR offers a platform for students and educators to engage with STEM concepts by designing and building 1lb Antweight Class robots, competing in events throughout the year. The league promotes learning in areas such as electronics, 3D design, and engineering, while culminating in the anual Plastic Pandemonium competition on May 17, 2025 at Colony High School in Ontario. Students will compete for the honor of the best culinary baking team in the inaugural SBCSS Sweet Genius competition. Participants will prepare cupcakes, donuts, and desserts items under the evaluation of local industry judges. Teams will incorporate three secret ingredients into prepared plates as well as provide decorative presentation elements that reflect the theme of the competition. The competition will provide students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of career related skills, learn how to fulfill assignments, and test ability to respond in a high paced restaurant environment. Under the evaluation of local industry judges, students will execute specific verbal and written instructions and adhere to health and safety concerns while preparing main entrees and side dishes to industry standards.
