STEMapalooza: Unplugged STEMapalooza Unplugged is a field trip to the Dorothy Inghram Learning Center that takes place after the online conference. Each selected school brings 70 fifth and sixth grade students to experience STEMapalooza lessons in person. Students rotate through three activities: a cyber escape room, a tower-building challenge, and Micro:bit programming. They also get to take home their own Micro:bits. Additionally, each teacher receives class sets of various STEM activity kits to teach additional STEMapalooza lessons upon returning to their school. Educators and industry professionals collaborate to deliver industry chats, virtual tours, and demonstrations that promote the attainment of transferable skills and the awareness of emerging occupations in the Inland Empire. SkillsUSA Networking Event The SkillsUSA California State Competition is a premier annual event where over 4,000 high school students from across the state showcase their technical and workplace skills through hands-on contests in fields such as IT, construction, automotive, engineering, public safety, and more. In addition to demonstrating technical proficiency, students are evaluated on essential employability traits - including communication, teamwork, professionalism, and time management - through activities such as job interviews, skill demonstrations, and customer service challenges. Held at the Ontario Convention Center, the competition is judged by industry professionals and offers students valuable real-world experience and career readiness. The Alliance for Education supports the event by recruiting local industry judges and organizing a professional networking opportunity to highlight the region’s emerging workforce talent.
