Chopped Culinary Competition Students will put their culinary skills to the test in the 2nd annual SBCSS Chopped competition. The competition will provide students the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of career related skills, learn how to fulfill assignments, and test ability to respond in a high paced restaurant environment. Under the evaluation of local industry judges, students will execute specific verbal and written instructions and adhere to health and safety concerns while preparing main entrees and side dishes to industry standards. Rube-a-thon Competition Rube-a-Thon is a team-based competition where students design and build Rube Goldberg machines—complex, chain-reaction devices that perform a simple task in the most elaborate way possible. Teams are given a set amount of time to construct their machines and craft a story, using a variety of everyday objects, with creativity, complexity, and functionality as key judging criteria.
